Christoph Neumann

The craft runs deeper than the camera. Christoph Neumann trained as an offset printer before studying photo design at the University of Applied Sciences Dortmund: ink, paper and print came before the image. That foundation later became a seven year collaboration with Gerhard Steidl in Göttingen, and it is why his images hold up where it matters most: on paper.

For 25 years his portraits have appeared in Stern, Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, Harper's Bazaar and ART Magazin, and in campaigns for Siemens, Sony, Deutsche Bahn, Zalando, Airbnb and Allianz. He has photographed Ai Weiwei, Keith Richards, Martin Scorsese, Kylie Minogue, Shah Rukh Khan, David Guetta and James Franco with Wim Wenders. Always with the same conviction: the idea carries the image.

From 2023 to 2026 he built and led the photo, video and AI unit of a Berlin company: AI driven imaging workflows, long before they became industry standard. Imagined is the artistic result. Three of his large format works were exhibited in "My Private Passion, Sammlung HGN" alongside Man Ray, Helmut Newton, Neo Rauch and Yayoi Kusama. His name means "new man", a fitting signature for a photographer who commands every stage of image making, from offset printing to the generative image. Represented by Gallery Lachenmann Art, published by Steidl.
